Lime roasting Conmpany

 

n 1845,  Jacobus Zuijderhoek, (Father of Jan Zuiderhoek) brickmaker at Capelle aan den IJssel, buys the The Lime roasting company fromt L.J.F's de Ruiter in Alphen aan den Rijn. The lime roasting company he rans it with his son Jan Zuijderhoek (born 01-017-1820 Kethel), who also a stockbroker was. On the first of January  1856, Jan Zuiderhoek, runs the company with his brother Pieter Leendert Proos Zuiderhoek. 

They have a contract for 10 years and would ended on 31 december 1865. His sons Gerardus Cornelis and Jacobus had no interest in the company and they went their separate ways. Gerardus worked as a machinist at Steamboat society Concordia and Jacobus emigrated to America. Unfortunately, this company was short-lived, so that on  June 17 1862 the company was declared bankrupt by the Court. Curator of Pieter Leendert Proos Zuiderhoek and his brother Pieter Jan Zuiderhoek was Mr. JM Gordon.

The company address was Steekterweg in Alphen aan den Rijn.  Jan's father  "Jacobus " ,lived  in the Hoogstraat A 131 A in Alphen aan den Rijn (bron bev-reg.1850-1860) Between 1860 and 1880 Jacob lived with two of his daughters on the address " Gouwe C11" in Alphen aan den Rijn. His wife Anna Cornelia Hoogendijk died  03-12-1859  in Capelle aan den IJssel.
